45 days, more than 12,000 entries and one Golden Ticket!

Ros Watt, a teacher from Jolimont, has won Perth’s most sought after prize after her entry was drawn by General Manager Michael Scott to become the Perth Arena Golden Ticket holder for 2014.

Miss Watt is the lucky recipient of a double pass to each event at Perth Arena for a year starting with legendary Leonard Cohen next Wednesday night and including Muse, Bon Jovi, Michael Buble and the sold out Bruce Springsteen tour.

“I’m still in shock. I can’t believe I won,” Miss Watt said.

“This has made my day, my month, my year!  I bought two tickets when the campaign started because I wanted to support Radio Lollipop and never thought I’d get the call to say I had won!”

Perth Arena General Manager Michael Scott said this year’s Golden Ticket campaign had been extremely successful raising $128,567 to help children’s charity Radio Lollipop relocate to the new Perth Children’s Hospital in 2015.

“We would sincerely like to thank everyone who generously supported Radio Lollipop by entering the Golden Ticket raffle,” Mr Scott said.

“Perth Arena is very proud of our partnership with Radio Lollipop and drawing the winning ticket this week was the perfect way to launch our second year of operation after celebrating our first anniversary this weekend.”

“It is hard to believe that the venue has only been open for a year however, we are looking forward to another strong year. The opportunity to welcome more Western Australians to Perth Arena is very exciting.”

Radio Lollipop (WA) Honorary Chairperson Kristi Clarke said space had been allocated to the charity at the new Perth Children’s Hospital for a studio and office. 

“We are working with the project team to finalise the fitout, equipment and infrastructure required but already, over the past two years, the Golden Ticket campaign has kickstarted our relocation fund by more than $170,000,” Ms Clarke said.

“We are overwhelmed by the response to the Golden Ticket this year – not only has the campaign generated much needed funding; we have also been inundated with support from people who have volunteered with us in the past, been visited by our volunteers on the wards or simply wanted to share their appreciation for the work we do to help the sick children of WA.”

Ms Clarke thanked the Perth Arena and the thousands of Western Australians who purchased tickets in the raffle.

“So many people got behind the Golden Ticket to support Radio Lollipop (WA) and help ensure we can continue to deliver our unique brand of play and entertainment to those children who will unfortunately become patients at the Perth Children’s Hospital.”

Ms Clarke said the move to the new hospital would also coincide with the charity’s 30th anniversary in Perth.

The Golden Ticket will return in 2014.
