A1 team up with radio lollipop

Radio Lollipop (Glasgow) has teamed up with one Glasgow’s finest companies A1-Textiles. A1 raises thousands of pounds for charities each year through its textile collection operation around central Scotland. The clothes are exported to countries in Asia & Africa. A1 pays £4 for each 10-kilo bag of material collected with another £1 going to Radio Lollipop, although donors can choose to have their full payment given to the charity as well.

Gordon Fraser, Managing Director of A1 Textiles said: “We decided to support Radio Lollipop after seeing the fantastic work they do with the children at Yorkhill. My own daughter has been a patient there too. The volunteers do a lot of wonderful things like hand out toys and having been on the wards to see what they do I was very impressed by the effect this has. For example there was one wee girl I saw who was not well at all, the volunteer had given her a brand new, soft squidgy ball and her mum was absolutely delighted that she had a toy she could play with safely. Of cause doing that sort of thing costs money so we are happy to help out.”

Kate Malone of A1 Textiles added: “ Not only are Radio Lollipop a very worthy charity in themselves but every penny raised for them goes directly to the children, whether through stationery and drawing utensils, prizes or project materials. All the very talented and caring staff are voluntary.
This was a determining factor to us working with them. We wanted a local charity where people could see where their donations were going and one where all monies raised went directly to the charity, not wages and admin.”

A1 Textiles hopes to raise around £15-20,000 for Radio Lollipop. They will be presenting Radio Lollipop with the initial first cheque today and have promised to donate a minimum of £1000 every month!
