Following the success of the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final in 2000 , Edinburgh was
again chosen as the venue for the 2002 Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup Final.
Here at Radio Lollipop we were again delighted to welcome back Mike Stephenson of Sky Sports who was returning to Edinburgh for the game . Stevo as he is known throughout the Rugby League world came into the studio on Thursday 25th April and once again did an interview and answered many questions from the boys and gilrs in hospital . He visited the wards and gave off Sky Sports merchandise to winners of the competitions that were set on the night .
After visiting the wards he once again returned to the studio and announced the winners of our Rugby League competition that had been taking part all week . The prizes kindly donated by both St Helens and Wigan Rugby League Club of signed footballs were given away to the winners who had been in the hospital earlier in the week but were now home .
Both winners were delighted with there prizes and thanks again must be expressed to Jim Pryde for all his work in liasoning with ” Stevo” and the Rugby League clubs .
As he left the studio “Stevo” , proudle wearing his “lollipop” pin badge . He thanked the “Thursday ” team of volunteers for their efforts in helping the children and he presented a further bag containing English League Football strips that will be used in a future football competition .
As an extra bonus Stevo arranged for tickets for children at the hospital and presenter John Macaulay took 7 year Owen Bray to Murrayfield to see the match . Owen met “Stevo” on the day and as he promised he was still wearing his Lollipop badge.
