Happy 29th Birthday Radio Lollipop Bristol

Celebrating 29 years, Radio Lollipop Bristol held a circus themed birthday party a day early on Saturday 28th September.

The birthday party took place during Radio Lollipop Bristol’s Saturday session from 2-4pm. During this time the playroom was decorated from top to bottom in birthday decorations with circus themed activities and games laid out across the tables for the children visiting to enjoy.

Hosting the event, Lollipop volunteers donned party hats and performed (and taught) some circus skills to the children and their families; including spinning plates and juggling. Bristol lolli-boss Kate Harris, aptly dressed as a circus ring leader, accompanied the activities by running a special 2 hour live radio show, taking the children’s song requests and running circus themed competitions for the listeners who couldn’t make it into the playroom.

The fun didn’t stop there as the Bristol lolli-vollies also took to the wards with one hundred birthday goody bags. Emma Worley, a Monday night volunteer, helped to deliver the goody bags to children across the hospital. She said “the kids absolutely loved the goody bags and the circus themed surprises that were inside them. It was a pleasure to see such big smiles on their faces!”

The birthday party was a great success – hip hip hooray for Radio Lollipop!
