The iconic Brisbane-based band, Sheppard, made a special guest appearance on Radio Lollipop’s show and entertained the children in the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital with the band’s hit songs this week.
Brisbane Radio Lollipop Chairperson Michael Gilbert said the band’s international hit “Geronimo” was a song frequently requested by the children and the children were very excited to meet the band and sing along live to their songs.
“Radio Lollipop is all about entertaining the children with their choice of songs requested from their bedside or within the studio, so we were thrilled to have Sheppard put on a show for the children – it gave them the opportunity to hear their songs live, as well as get autographs,” Mr Gilbert said.
“We’re very grateful to the band for taking the time to visit the children and get them excited and singing along to their songs. It’s a chance for the children to be at their own concert and forget that they’re in hospital.
“It really makes our day seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and having special guests like Sheppard makes the Radio Lollipop show an extra special experience for them during a difficult time in their lives.
“We couldn’t make these moments happen if it wasn’t for special guests taking the time to visit the children and the support of our donators and volunteers.”
Singer George Sheppard said: “Hospital isn’t the most ideal place to be – especially for children – and knowing that we were able to bring smiles to their faces is priceless reward for us. We are honoured to have been given the opportunity to work with Radio Lollipop. Together we were able to bring some much needed positive energy into the kids’ lives.”
