POPULAR BAND NIGHT RETURNS TO HELP YOUNG HOSPITAL PATIENTS
Four talented local bands are preparing for a special performance to raise money for Southampton’s Radio Lollipop charity.
All proceeds from Lollifest IV, which takes place at the Alexandra Beer Emporium from 7.30pm on Saturday 6 June, will help provide care, comfort and play for children at Southampton General Hospital.
Tickets for the popular musical extravaganza – now in its fourth year – are being snapped up fast and organisers are hoping the night will be a sell-out success.
Bands and artists kindly giving their time for free to help the volunteer-run radio station this year are:
RA!
A fuzzy-indie collective with an unhealthy obsession with analogue technology, thrashy guitars and even stranger samples.
The Paper Trains
Formed in 2011, the Paper Trains are a modern three-piece string band with a distinctive repertoire of self-penned Americana tracks.
Just Millie
One of the South’s most talented solo artists, Millie has created a unique brand of music with her intelligent interpretation of current hits and vintage classics.
The Novatones
Four-piece Southampton indie/Britpop/punk band with a growing following in the city. The lads played the Isle of Wight festival last summer and are performing this weekend at the first ever Common People festival in Southampton.
Lollifest IV organiser Lee Donnarumma, volunteer fundraiser for Radio Lollipop in Southampton, said: “Anyone who loves live music is in for a top night.
“We have a superb venue and are very pleased to have secured four very different acts.
“We are extremely grateful to the artists for giving up their time and to everyone at the Alex and music promoters MintSouth for their support.
“Every penny raised on the night will help provide music and play for poorly children in Southampton General Hospital.”
Tickets cost £3.50 in advance from www.wegottickets.com/event/319134 or will be £5 on the night. Doors open at 7pm, with the first act due on at 7.30pm.
