In January this year Radio Lollipop Newcastle mascot Hubble went on a long rail trip from Perth to meet up with his friends in Kalgoorlie Western Australia – a distance of over 9200 miles from his home town. Hubble was really interested in how differently RL Kalgoorlie operated compared to his hospital – the Great North Children’s Hospital at the RVI but he discovered that the Radio Lollipop ethos of care, comfort, play and entertainment was central to the volunteers in both hospitals despite the difference in size and needs.
