Radio lollipop get a little help from their friends

Radio Lollipop gratefully received a very generous donation from the Sick Kids Friends Foundation. The Friends Foundation fund many worthwhile projects within the hospital aimed at helping sick children. This money will allow the charity to buy a brand new road show unit replacing their existing equipment.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation provides help and support to all children admitted to the hospital. Most importantly they provide assistance for patient and family facilities, the supply of extra medical facilities and paediatric research and training.

Maureen Harrison the director of The Sick Kids Friends Foundation says
‘Everyone at the hospital knows what a wonderful job Radio Lollipop does in keeping our young patients entertained while they are in hospital. Unless they can raise the finds needed to do that they would not be able to provide the same quality of servicewhich children enjoy today. We agreed to help fund the new trailer so that they would be able to have good equipment to help them raise the funds they need to sustain the service for the future. Working together we can make sure that children’s time in hospital is as enjoyable as possible.’

Radio Lollipop was delighted when their appeal came through for a new Road show unit allowing them to tour again this summer. This upgraded equipment should ensure that all the volunteers raise more money to make a child’s stay at the Sick Kids hospital more enjoyable.

Radio Lollipop spokesman says that ‘Radio Lollipop Edinburgh’s main income source comes from Roadshows. We have been entertaining people at local gala days, community days, family fun days and corporate family days for over 18 years and this kind donation from the Sick Kids Friends Foundation will ensure that we can continue to entertain people with the Radio Lollipop Roadshow at various events and then in turn help the children in the Sick Kids hospital through the funds raised.’

Constable clancy visits radio lollipop brisbane

Visitors are always welcome at Radio Lollipop! Recently Constable Clancy and his friends Constables Mel Economidis, Carmel Mills, and Colin Randall visited the wards with Radio Lollipop volunteers at the Mater Children’s Hospital, Brisbane.

With the support of the Queensland Police Service’s Logan District Education & Training Office (DETO), Radio Lollipop is now an option for the Logan District First Year Constables (FYC’s) who complete a number of community policing competencies during their first year of training.

Many curious questions kept Constable Mel and Constable Carmel very busy. The children loved trying on the police hats and posing with Constable Clancy.

The children, the volunteers and the nursing staff had a great time. Check out Constable Clancy and Constables Mel and Carmel before leaving the studio to have fun up on the wards with the children.

Radio Lollipop thanks the attending Police Officers, and the Community Supporting Policing Inc. for their ongoing support of Radio Lollipop.
