It was a quiet Tuesday night at Radio Lollipop but it didn’t stay like that for long especially when the children found out that the crew from the Channel 9 Children’s T.V. program “The SHAK” had arrived to come and visit with them.

The SHAK crew of Nitro, Eco, Picasso and Curio arrived early and started the night on air chatting with D.J. Sana about their work on T.V., hobbies, likes and dislikes. It was then up on to the wards to meet the children.

The SHAK crew already had a huge number of fans up on the wards and now they have a whole lot more. Nitro and Curio were stumped by patient James and were intrigued by Mikayla. One young patient was a little frightened by Nitro’s hair but he loved Eco and Picasso. All the children had an opportunity to have there photo taken with the crew and also receive signed autographs.

KIIS broadcasts live from the Radio Lollipop studios at Children’s Hospital Orange County all day long!

KIIS-FM joins the families at CHOC to celebrate the first anniversary of “Radio Lollipop,” (the patient run radio station inside the hospital that KIIS FM and Ryan Seacrest have embraced, raised awareness and funds for since 2001, and helped put “on the air” a year ago.)

Join Manny, Sisane, Boy Toy Jesse and JoJo as they join the celebration by broadcasting LIVE from the “Radio Lollipop” Studio for the entire day!

Why: CHOC’s Radio Lollipop is a source of inspiration, creativity and positivity for children with illnesses that bind them to the hospital for days, weeks and even months at a time. KIIS FM and Ryan Seacrest continue to support the project indefinitely and are happy to contribute in any way we can to bring some delight into the lives of these kids who face their physical and emotional challenges bravely everyday.

Other on site activities include a silent auction for some great prizes and valuable merchandise to raise money for CHOC and a blood drive (the first 102 people to donate blood on Thursday beginning at 7AM will get a KIIS T-Shirt – and everyone who donates will qualify for a pair of tickets to the KIIS Homecoming Concert starring Gwen Stefani on October 27th).

The Radio Lollipop Project at CHOC is one of only 3 in the nation and the first on the West Coast.

Radio Lollipop Edinburgh recently held a competition to give away a signed David Coulthard framed picture.

We invited everyone to design their very own racing car. The winner was Maz Haden, 11 years old, from Balerno in Edinburgh he was in Ward 4 of the hospital. He has now recieved his prize and is very happy with his new signed photograph.
