Brownies help radio lollipop

The 15th Edinburgh Morningside Brownie pack came into the Studio during the summer to see the studio and sing songs to the children within the wards of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children here in Edinburgh.

We were delighted to hear that the brownies had raised £200 for our charity following a sponsored silence and John Macaulay went along to meet up with the brownies again and thank them for this kind donation.

A big thank you to all the girls and all the leaders at the 15th Morningside pack in particular Brown Owl Lesley Murphy.

Brisbane bullets return to visit radio lollipop mater

The Virgin Blue Brisbane Bullets are great supporters of Radio Lollipop and over the past few weeks we have had a number of the players come in and visit with the children. On the first night Craig Bradshaw, Chris Goulding and Rhys Martin entertained the children. The children, parents and volunteers found it particularly entertaining that Craig Bradshaw standing at 210 cm tall had to duck to go under the curtain railings around each bed. One very fortunate patient got to meet his hero’s, he is in the wheelchair basketball team and was particularly thrilled to meet the guys.

Last night was another entertaining night on the wards with team captain Sam Mackinnon, CJ Bruton, Mick Hill and Rhys Martin visiting Radio Lollipop Mater. The night commenced with the players having a little one-on-one out on the court with the children from the Child, Youth and Mental Health ward, it was then shoot out time with one of the children winning the first to three.

It was then up on to the other wards to visit the other children. There will be a couple of very unhappy dad’s who had recently left for the evening who are very big fans of the Virgin Blue Brisbane Bullets who would love to have met the guys. The children took great delight in meeting the guys and most of them had their photo taken with the players. Each child also received an autographed poster from the players as a memento of the visit and will soon receive their photo with a Radio Lollipop magnetic photo frame.

Radio Lollipop would like to sincerely thank Eddy, Jeff, Narelle and the entire Virgin Blue Brisbane Bullets players for their continued support of Radio Lollipop.

Busy busy halloween

Glasgow had a very busy Halloween this year with a sneaky wee Halloween extra show provided for the Hospital Play Specialists from 11AM till 1PM.
Then at six it was the usual Wednesday night Freaky Fright Show. Volunteers and children and indeed some parents all dressed up for the spooky fun. A great night of frights, freaky goings on and fun lasted right up until bed time.
