Ocs at perth concert hall

On behalf of everyone at Radio Lollipop Dundee I would like to extend a huge heartfelt thanks to all the support we received from ocean colour scene fans at Perth Concert Hall on 16 December. With their help we raised the tremendous sum of 300.

This money will go a long way to helping all the sick kids at Tayside Children’s Hospital, helping to make their stay in hospital a little less scary, particularly over the festive period!

I would like to echo Newcastle’s thanks to the band for supporting Radio Lollipop on their UK tour!

Also, thanks to Jim from Radio Lollipop Birmingham for his help in organising the collection.

Dundonians generous donations

On behalf of all the children and staff at Tayside Children’s Hospital, and all the volunteers at Radio Lollipop (Dundee), I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and pupils at Fintry Primary School for their kind donation of £135. This was in response to a recent fundraising campaign which saw us write to all the schools in Dundee asking them to support Radio Lollipop by hosting a fundraising event.

Also, this week we received a most generous donation of £250 from a very kind member of the local community. The gentleman (along with his family and friends) decided that this year instead of buying each other presents for Christmas, they would donate the money to a charity of their choice. He came across the Radio Lollipop website and decided this was to be his choice of charity. He remembers how scary it was when he was in hospital as a child and hoped his donation could help us to make every child’s stay in hospital a bit less frightening than he remembers. Thank you!

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2008 to all our supporters and to all Radio Lollipop volunteers throughout the world.

Dennis is a menace on the wards

On Tuesday night, star of The Beano comic, Dennis The Menace, made a special visit to the ward. Accompanied by the volunteers of Radio Lollipop (Dundee), Dennis visited all the kids sharing some Christmas cheer by giving every child a present.

Dennis quickly made friends with the kids (and staff) on the ward and many posed to have their photo taken with him.

Murray (6), pictured with the volunteers and staff in HDU, a big fan of Dennis, loved his visit and didn’t want him to leave. But, too soon, after saying goodbye to all his new friends, Dennis had to go to bed.

Many thanks to DC Thompson (publishers of The Beano) who helped us arrange the visit from Dennis The Menace and kindly donated presents for the children on the ward. Also a huge thank you to the nurses on the ward and the Radio Lollipop volunteers, who all helped make the visit such a success.

Flying high with yorkhill

Over the last few months Radio Lolliopop Glasgow have been running a competition at all of their Roadshows.

Visitors to the roadshows have had the chance to win a flight in a helicopter by playing ‘X marks the spot’.

We had hundreds of entries but the winning square was correctly chosen by Bill McCormack, pictured above receving his tickets from a group of volunteers.

Well done Bill, we hope you enjoy the ride and thanks to all that took part.
