Serious fun at the cavalcade

Radio Lollipop volunteers recently took part in the Edinburgh Festival’s cavalcade aboard the Serious Fun bus. The cavalcade marks the start of the Edinburgh Festivals and sees performers and community groups come together in a celebration parade. The Radio Lollipop Serious Fun bus entertained the crowds with live music and chat as it travelled through the streets of Edinburgh.

The cavalcade is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of the work of Radio Lollipop. Thanks to all of the volunteers that took part in the event.

Brisbane lions roar into radio lollipop

Last Tuesday night, Radio Lollipop was lucky enough to have the “Pride of Brisbane town, who wear blue and gold”, The mighty Brisbane Lions visit Radio Lollipop and the Children at the Mater Children’s Hospital. The wards were roaring with Brisbane Lions excitement with, Simon Black, Jamie Charman and Luke Power visiting the children.

Before visiting the children on the wards the boys let them know they were there… singing their mighty Roar, the Brisbane Lions Anthem over the radio for all the hospital to hear!

The boys thrilled many young and old Brisbane Lions fans, signing autographs, posing for photos and even playing a game of AFL with some of the children, teaching them some of their skills!

A huge thank you to the Brisbane Lions, Simon, Jamie and Luke and we wish them the very best for the rest of their season!

Also a Big thanks to the terrific Tuesday team, and Meagan for organising the visit! Check out Simon, Jamie and Luke with our terrific Tuesday Team.

Go Lions…Brisbane Lions!

Lions club donate to radio lollipop logan

Earlier this year the Logan Lions Club approached Radio Lollipop to be the beneficiary of the proceeds from the Grrrevilea Festival which was held at Browns Plains on Saturday 24th May 2008.

Radio Lollipop held a market stall on the day selling Merchandise and giving away free Radio Lollipop Tattoo’s to all the children. The market stall raised over $500 for Radio Lollipop.

In addition, the Logan Lions Club donated $1200.00 to Radio Lollipop to enable us to purchase 2 craft trolley’s and a large amount of craft items for use on the wards with the children.

Fiona Turner, President of the Logan Lions Club and Syd Rayment attended a handover ceremony in the Radio Lollipop Playroom on Monday 18 August.

P.S. The party hats were because we turned 7 on the same day.

Radio lollipop logan turns 7

Monday was a huge day in the Radio Lollipop Enchanted Forest playroom at Logan Hospital as the volunteers, hospital staff and children celebrated Radio Lollipop’s 7th birthday.

The children and staff enjoyed a yummy birthday cake and celebrated with party hats, whistles and balloons. It was a great morning for the children with Miss Lollipop making a special guest appearance. In true Radio Lollipo style Miss Lollipop did a great job in helping make a little girl who was sad happy again.

Our thanks to Volunteer Co-ordinator Sarah for organizing our birthday celebration. Check out Miss Lollipop getting a huge hug.
