Golden voice mckenzie sings to radio lollipop gold coast

McKenzie Comer came into Radio Lollipop on March 19th and wowed the children at the Gold Coast Hospital with her fabulous singing.

As McKenzie started singing in the studio, her voice seemed to float down the ward and very quickly the children flocked in to hear her wonderful voice. McKenzie, who at the age of just 12, has only been singing for 2 years, sang for the captivated audience and had the children clapping to the rhythm and dancing with her on the floor.

Finishing with an encore song, a favourite from her last visit, McKenzie sang the well known Norah Jones hit, “Don’t Know Why”, to rapturous applause! After her performance, McKenzie did an interview in the studio with one of the children Amelia, and then entered our Radio Lollipop “hall of fame“ by having her hand prints taken and signed for all to see.

A massive thanks to McKenzie for giving up her time during school studies to come in and bring happiness the children, we all really look forward to another visit during our 2009 Special Guest Program.

Atlanta come visit glasgow

Local Girl band ‘Atlanta’ Popped in to say hello. Fresh off their tour round the UK with Cascada the girls were still in top shape and went up did a mini concert for all of the children in the wards with some fantastic acoustic singing.

Stevie.Q (RL Glasgow) Said: “Its fantastic to see that record labels like Dream Hits are interested in helping local children which proves they are not all in it for the money.
We hope to see the girls again very soon back at the station”

Big Thank you to Josie from Dream Hits (Scotland) for helping organise the vist from the girls.

Statment on the girls website:
“Hey guys! How are you all doing!? We haven’t been out and about for a few weeks now – lots of rehearsals and practise going on instead – not as much fun as getting out there and seeing everyone! We are all well.. Please check out our new pics – we visited Radio Lollipop in Glasgow a few months ago to visit the sick kids wards and talk on air with the presenters and volunteers. We had an amazing night ‘HELLO! ” to all the kids we met, you were inspirational! Big thanks to Stephen for sending us the photos and keep up the good work!!! We <3 RADIO LOLLIPOP!!! xxxxxAtlantaxxxxx"

gold coast sizzles to raise money for radio lollipop!

On March 7 2009, Radio Lollipop held a fund-raising BBQ at Harvey Norman on the Gold Coast. The event was an outstanding success, in fact it was a rippa!

After selling 25 kilos of snags, 23 loaves of bread, 7 kilos of onions and lots of sauces, we raised a total of $800 for Radio Lollipop Gold Coast.

Thank you to all the wonderful Lollipopers, family and friends who helped make the day the success it was. Not only did we raise much needed funds, but we had a whole lot of fun talking to the community about Radio Lollipop and the work we do! Our fantastic volunteers helped cook the bbq, sell the sausages and made lots of balloons keeping many kids (and parents) happy.

We can’t wait to do it again!
