501st group in full force!

TAG troopers have been great supporters of Radio Lollipop over the past six months with a number of appearances at the Lollipop studios at PMH.

The 501st Terror Australis Garrison (TAG) was born in 2004 and is a fan-based organisation that replicates the imperial officer costumes from Star War. Dressed in character, members make appearances at community and charity events.

For Radio Lollipop (WA), the 501st Group took time out on Boxing Day to visit the patients of PMH as well as making our charity the beneficiary of one of their fundraising activities to the value of $1009.45.

The 501st legion is an international phenomenon and has drawn many of the Star Wars actors to take membership.

Dulux in association with bunnings have today donated a cheque of $2,400.00 to radio lollipop, gold coast

Account Executive Michael Salvage from Dulux, came to the Radio Lollipop studio today to hand over the $2,400.00 cheque, along with Bunnings Nerang store Complex Manager Tim Wilson, Operations Manager Wayne Thomas and Future Leader Cherie Lace.

This was gratefully received by Radio Lollipop’s Treasurer Rene McKay, Play Coordinator Maria Hoult and Special Guest Co-ordinator Dougie Alderton. Maria, Rene and Dougie have been heavily involved in our new association made with Bunnings and Dulux and have already organised a commitment from Bunnings stores on the Gold Coast to come into the Radio Lollipop studio bi-monthly to carry out a variety of craft activities for the children, during Radio Lollipop session times.

A special thank you to Harbour Town Bunnings Activities Manager Jenny Dobson, who read about Radio Lollipop and wanted to come to the studio to see firsthand what we are all about, along with Burleigh Heads, Southport and Nerang Bunnings Activities Organisers, Nikki Grandland, Lauren Gourlay and Coral Ryan. Bunnings stores have already donated heaps of arts and crafts materials as well as over a $1,000.00 worth of much needed lockable cabinets, containers, trolleys and craft tables.

Dulux annually raises money at Easter for hospitals on the Gold Coast and has indicated their wish to make an annual donation to Radio Lollipop, having also come to find out what Radio Lollipop is all about.

We thank Dulux and Bunnings for their enthusiasm and support for Radio Lollipop and we are proud to be associated with them both and really look forward to a continued relationship into 2010 and the coming years.

Bree amer from sea fm visits radio lollipop gold coast

Heads turn whereever the beautiful and talented Bree Amer from Radio Station Sea FM goes and no more than on Thursday night when she took time out of her very busy schedule to visit the children at Radio Lollipop on the Gold Coast.

Bree showed how multi-talented she is with her fabulous collage pictures of reindeers and snowmen, helped of course by all the children in the Radio Lollipop playroom. Not to be out done by the lads, Bree played a mean game of table tennis before going onto the wards to give out Radio Lollipop Welcome Packs and see some of the children that couldn’t come into the Radio Lollipop studio.

Bree was adored by all the children and one nearly proposed to her, but some of the parents told him get to the back of the queue and give the mature kids a chance.

The tables were turned back in the Radio Lollipop studio when Bree was grilled with an in-depth interview by a few of the older children on the radio. Bree has really embraced Radio Lollipop and wants to maintain her support for us by continuing to come up to the studio and being a big part of our 2010 special guest program. Come back soon Bree and have some more fun with us!
