Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor is inviting the local community to join them and travel “Around the World in a Day” on Sunday June 6th as part of Hilton in the Community Foundation’s annual national charity event. The day will also include a fun-filled afternoon at the Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor for families to come along to and enjoy. This will include a Wii competition, music, face painting and, of course, the Radio Lollipop shop.

According to Steve Hall, General Manager at Hilton Edinburgh Grosvenor, this year’s event is another fantastic opportunity for the community to get together and to have fun in support of a great cause. “It doesn’t matter what age you are or your fitness level, every bit of effort helps! To get involved all you have to do is register in advance and come and join us on June 6th for an amazing day of summer fun and exercise.”

The effort is part of a national challenge whereby Hilton team members, charity partners and the public will all be working together on the day in over 75 hotels and offices across Europe, collectively aiming to travel the circumference of the earth – 24,901.55 miles. They will also be competing to see who can cover the most miles.

Registration packs, including an event t-shirt cost just £5. To register or to find out more information please call +44 (0)20 7605 7641 or log onto www.hilton-foundation.org.uk

Gold coast football club visits radio lollipop

Radio Lollipop Gold Coast are very proud to announce an association with the Gold Coast Football Team. A number of players came in to the studio on Wednesday night to play with the children of the Gold Coast Hospital, Southport.

Corey Bell, Gold Coast Football Clubs Community Programs Officer, bought in with him two of the greats in the game, Daniel Harris and Michael Coad, who will be making heads turn in the Australian Football League game with the new team. The Gold Coast community are getting behind this new team.

Daniel and Michael got messy with the children with paint everywhere. A visit to the Radio Lollipop studio, a tour around the wards and a punishing interview from the children over the radio brought tears of laughter everywhere.

They came bearing gifts and went away with the significance of how important these visits are to the children and families. We can’t wait for the guys to come back and visit again.

Good Luck Gold Coast Football Club. You have Radio Lollipop Fans in the wings.

Scoring goals with the queensland firebirds

The Thrilling Thursday team at the Mater Children’s Hospital welcomed Alissa and Clare from the Queensland Firebirds last week on 6 May.
The kids had a wonderful time meeting with the girls and hearing about their exciting lives as professional netball players.

They also loved receiving posters of the team personally signed by Clare and Alissa and even individual player cards with the girls’ pictures and player details on them.

We also met a few mothers who were particularly excited to meet some Firebirds players. Each girl comparing stories about the netball positions they played or still play.

Our thanks go out to Clare and Alissa for the visit and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
