Brisbane roar fundraiser for radio lollipop mater children’s hospital

The Brisbane Roar Football Club are committed to supporting Radio Lollipop at the Mater Children’s Hospital again this year. For the cost of a gold coin donation, our Radio Lollipop volunteers were on hand to make balloon swords for all the children (and some adults too). We raised over $400.00 in just 90 minutes.

Brisbane Roar mascot Roary was out and about with his balloon sword dueling with all the kids and creating havoc among the fans. The Brisbane Roar donated 4 family passes to the game so some of the kids were able to get out of hospital and have some fun. Radio Lollipop Vice Chairman Melissa Dixon did a live interview prior to the start of the game.

Check out Roary with Radio Lollipop volunteer Emily-Jayne and Radio Lollipop supporter Bec.

If you would like to donate 90 minutes of your time to help out at the next Brisbane Roar fundraising game please contact Jaye Chirgwin at funds.rl@gmail.com.

Radio Lollipop would like to thank the Brisbane Roar for their continued support and look forward to some players visiting the kids in hospital very soon.

The second day of the b105 radio lollipop appeal weekend

It was another crazy fun-filled day in the Radio Lollipop studio at the Mater Children’s Hospital today with B105 broadcasting live for the second day. Today, B105’s Matt Sutton was the host of the show.

Loads of special guests came in today, B105 morning show host Camilla was first to come in and spend time with the kids in the studio and on the wards. B105’s Totters then came in with Alex Glenn and Antonio Winterstein from the Brisbane Bronco’s rugby league team. The boys came in to have some fun with the kids. Maddison managed to convince them to have some painting done on their arms. It was then on to the wards to see the kids with heaps of photo’s and autographs taken. Our very own Radio Lollipop friend Sweetz also came in today to see everyone. As usual Sweetz was a hit with everyone. Stav from the B105 morning crew also spent time with the kids, his painting skills were put to the test, painting a cat to take home.

Radio Lollipop would like to thank Richard Barker, Mitch and the B105 team for supporting Radio Lollipop. We know that all the announcers and our special guests donated their own time to come in and spend time with us over the weekend. Radio Lollipop and the kids really appreciate it.

B105 broadcasts from radio lollipop at the mater children’s hospital this weekend

Today, Brisbane radio station B105 broadcast live from the Radio Lollipop studio at the Mater Children’s Hospital, the first day of the Radio Lollipop Appeal weekend. The focus for the weekend was to raise awareness of Radio Lollipop for those fortunate enough in the community not to have had a sick child in hospital. The need for financial donations, ward visiting and fundraising volunteers is also being promoted throughout the weekend.

The Saturday afternoon show by Kiri was broadcast with regular Radio Lollipop special guest Ranger Stacey from Channel Ten’s Totally Wild, Jamie Charman from the Brisbane Lions, Roary from the Brisbane Roar, Channel Ten’s Bill McDonald, Labby from the B105 morning show and young 8 year old former cancer patient Jacinta and her mum Annalies were our Saturday special guests.

Our special guests were interviewed live on air by Kiri and Labby and then spent time up on the wards visiting the children who were unable to visit the studio.

It was fun and games down in the Radio Lollipop studio with face painting, craft activities, hat designing and painting available for all the children, and their families. B105 gave away temporary tattoo’s and stickers to everyone.

Check out B105’s Labby and Kiri with Radio Lollipop volunteer Chi.

Our very special thanks to Richard Barker, General Manager of Austereo and his B105 team including Mitch, Lisa, Bec, Kim, Maree and Nick for making it a very memorable day for all our children and their families. Also, a huge thank you to our special guests who donated their time to come in for wonderful appeal weekend.

We look forward to another fun filled day tomorrow.
