Radio lollipop london welcomes new volunteers

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July the board room at Great Ormond Street Hospital experienced some of the magic of Radio Lollipop.

A total of 33 new volunteers attended our latest induction day to bring them up to speed and ready for the wards. There were lots of ideas for new themes and some really great prototype models made by the recruits.

Thanks to all those volunteers who came along to help and we’ve got more induction days planned later in the year so look forward to bolstering our numbers further!

Manchester united at the mater hospital

Terrific Tuesday had a very special visitor in July when John Carpenter, the Chairperson from Radio Lollipop Manchester showed up the night before the State of Origin final. We had lots of fun visiting the wards and finding kids to explain how to play AFL (because Ceara couldn’t really help much there!) and the importance of the State of Origin final and Darren Lockyer’s last game as a Maroon. We were having a music and pop stars night so we had plenty of time to chat while we did word searches and made tambourines. John and I got the run down from lots of different perspectives and by the end of the night John knew all about Toads and Cockroaches and Mate versus Mate and most importantly … not to wear blue in Queensland the following day!

Thank you for visiting, John. It was a real treat to have a Radio Lollipop Volunteer from the other side of the world for a night. It was a great way to remember that Radio Lollipop makes people smile all over the world 🙂

James enjoys p&g fun day, despite the rain!

Radio Lollipop Newcastle, today attended the Proctor and Gamble family fun day at Newcastle Falcons Rugby Ground. Despite
horrendous downpours and poor weather all day, the guests spirits were not dampened and over £150 was raised on the day for Radio Lollipop through generous donations from the company’s staff.

The family fun day is an annual event on Radio Lollipops calendar, and this year we were joined on stage by guest presenter James Hempton (pictured) who entertained the crowds with his funky dance routines.

When asked if he enjoyed the day, James replied “I want another yo-yo!”…so we’ll assume that’s a yes then!

Radio Lollipop looks forward to attending the fun day again next year and would like to thank the organising committee for inviting us along and the staff and families from Proctor and Gamble who were so generous in supporting Radio Lollipop’s work.
