Mckenzie comer sings christmas carols at radio lollipop gold coast

The gorgeous young McKenzie Comer graced us with her presence singing Christmas Carols again at Radio Lollipop Gold Coast Hospital in the days leading up to Christmas. It’s hard to believe this girl is only 15 with such a beautiful voice. She started by singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, an ABBA song and a special dedication to the patients, Butterfly Fly Away by Miley Cyrus. It was a beautiful moment to watch. After singing, McKenzie spent some time in the studio playing Connect 4 with little Matty, doing some art with Candice and Tameka and having a chat to Destany. The children will be sure to treasure their signed posters from McKenzie.

McKenzie has been performing from a young age and began singing for the elderly in Aged Care Centres after a great experience singing for her great grandparents. She has been visiting and performing for the children at Radio Lollipop for over two years now. She has also visited and performed with friend and performer, Cody Simpson on a number of occasions. McKenzie sang at Robina Town Centre on our annual Lollipop Day on October 29.

The beautiful young talent has her first album due to be released early 2012. You can visit her website www.mckenziecomer.com, find her on Facebook or see her music videos on Youtube. Thank you for your loyal commitment and your caring heart for the children at Radio Lollipop. We look forward to many more visits in 2012. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Harmony in paradise continue to bring christmas cheer to radio lollipop gold coast

The sweet harmonies of Harmony in Paradise Choir were heard throughout the Paediatric Ward at Gold Coast Hospital on the Monday before Christmas. Our very own Radio Lollipop volunteer Lyn Jones is part of the choir so it was great to hear her sing beautifully also. Usually a choir of 40 women, a handful came up to the studio to bring some sweet sounds throughout the ward.

Patients, parents, nurses and even a doctor came to listen and sing along to well-known carols like Away in a Manager, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Rudolph was a favourite carol of Tameka’s, one of our regular patients, who sang along and had a huge smile across her face the whole time. Her dad showed our volunteers a video of Tameka dancing along the Rudolph when the choir sang last year. The following evening she had some reindeer ears on and had her nose painted red.

Thank you to Harmony in Paradise Choir for taking the time to come and see the children in Gold Coast Hospital this Christmas. You brought so much joy to the ward and we hope you’ll come back again next year. We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Gc suns brighten up the christmas season for the kids at radio lollipop gold coast

The studio was shining bright with the Christmas spirit as Gold Coast Suns players Liam Patrick, Josh Caddy, Jeremy Taylor and mascot Sunny Ray visited the kids at Radio Lollipop Gold Coast on Monday 5th December. In a new Suns community programme, a few of the administration staff also visited the kids on the ward.

Due to the wind down to Christmas it was a very quiet night on the ward, with more special guests than there were kids. A few lovely children came down to the Radio Lollipop Studio to do a bit of painting and play some table tennis with our special guests. Sunny Ray entertained everyone with his larger than life personality and our Radio Lollipop Volunteers cranked up the bubble machine.

The club donated a wonderful amount of Christmas Show Bags for the children on the wards which were filled with Suns stickers, a little footy and other special GC Suns treats. The children on the ward will be very happy to receive a special Christmas gift from the GC Suns over the coming weeks. Thank you to Corey, Michael and the Club for your generosity and for your continual support and regular visits to Radio Lollipop Gold Coast. We look forward to having you back in the New Year.
