Radio Lollipop Gold Coast is once again one of the beneficiaries of Broadwater Rotary Club’s Bare Your Soles for Kids lawn bowls fundraiser. The rotary club is one of the original supporters of Radio Lollipop who assisted with the launch and growth of our Gold Coast team 10 years ago.

Over its 12 year history, the Bare Your Soles For Kids has raised more than $300,000 for local charities and supported over 100 individuals in need on the Gold Coast.

Rotary Club of Broadwater Southport President Dennis O’Brien said funds from the day will support Southport Special School, Radio Lollipop, Southport Surf Lifesaving Club Nippers and other local Rotary charity projects.

“Bare Your Soles For Kids has become another wonderful annual Gold Coast community event and has established a fine tradition of raising funds for programs that benefit our youth,” said O’Brien.

“Lawn bowls is a fun, healthy and social activity, and a great way to get out and enjoy our Gold Coast weather.

“We now invite the public to get in quick to secure one of 42 team entries into this year’s event.”

Registration is $35 per person with the competition in teams of four. People can enter a team or enter individually and be placed into a team.

Musgrave Hill Bowls Club will host Bare Your Soles For Kids from 10am to 2.30pm on Sunday 15 May. The program will feature a social lawn bowls team’s competition, silent and open auctions and $5 raffle draws.

“We acknowledge the tremendous support from local businesses in donating more than 20 prizes for our raffles during the day, as well as a number of major items to auction off including the Bernard Tomic signed tennis racquet,” said O’Brien.

Week 5: Teddy Goes To Space

Week 5 of the Space Rocket Project saw the completion of the Radio Lollipop Bristol Hobble Rocket which is now ready to be assembled for the big launch!

All the rockets that have been made so far have been taken away to be assembled and the big launch date is to be confirmed soon.

The project is taking a break for a few weeks whilst the University of the West of England students prepare for their exams.  Good luck to all of them.

But the rocketastic fun will be back very soon!

RADIO LOLLIPOP EDINBURGH – EASTER EGG-CITEMENT!

Radio Lollipop Edinburgh was choc-ful of eggs yesterday thanks to Jennifer Skinner and her daughters Danika and Katy. With help from family and friends they kindly donated 160 Easter Eggs and colouring books with pencils to be given out to the children at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

The studio was decorated with all the eggs, which were presented to Clinical Coordinator Lesley Thomson and were then distributed by our Thursday team to the Nursing Staff for the children on the wards.

A big thank you to the Skinner family for their kindness in thinking of Radio Lollipop Edinburgh and helping children in hospital.

Radio Lollipop Edinburgh – Christmas Jumper

Christmas time can be difficult if a child is in hospital. Here in Edinburgh our Play Team arranged a Festive competition to design a “silly Christmas jumper” and one of our worthy winners was Holly, aged 8.

Holly has been back in hospital and again appreciated visits from the volunteers in the wards of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Our good friend Kirsty Griffiths from Caledonian Clothing was approached and delighted to create Holly’s design onto a special jumper.

It was a pleasure to see Holly at the hospital and she was a very happy young lady and loved her new jumper.
