New Studio Earmarked For Southampton

An ambitious £40k fundraising campaign is under way to transform Radio Lollipop’s Southampton studio.

The cash injection is needed to pay for a much-needed upgrade of the studio and play area based at Southampton General Hospital.

Eye-catching design plans have been unveiled which will bring the much-loved radio base bang up to date.

Lee Donnarumma, Radio Lollipop Southampton’s chair, said: “Everyone is very excited about the plans, which will give us the bright, modern studio our patients and volunteers deserve.  Our current studio has served us well but, after nearly 23 years, is looking tired and shabby and in desperate need of a makeover.”

The existing Radio Lollipop studio is tucked away near the hospital restaurant – but is so low-key that many patients, visitors and staff walk past without a second glance.

It is hoped that by opening up the studio with a new glass frontage – showing off a bright, modern interior – will help generate new interest in the charity.

The improved facilities will also make the base more inviting for young patients, who can visit and try their hand at DJ-ing if they are well enough.

Anyone who has fundraising ideas, or can help in any way, is asked to email Lee Donnarumma at lee@radiolollipop.org
