RL Newcastle gets great support from local Culverdene Nursery

Radio Lollipop Newcastle have been given some great support from Culverdene Day Nursery who had a fantastic Summer Fayre last week with lots of games, tombola’s, a bouncy castle, refreshments and a character visit from Belle.

They raised a massive £344

We would like to say a huge thank you to our play co-ordinator Steph, Sandra , Jayne , Melanie , Vicky , Laura and all the hard working staff for organising such a wonderful event. We are extremely grateful to all the parents and children who attended the event helping to raise the money which will all be used to help entertain the sick children in the Great North Children’s Hospital.

A special thanks also goes to Bounce North East and Hopscotch Entertainment , who provided the bouncy castle and character visit for the event – your support was really appreciated

Radio Lollipop Newcastle is 35 years young

What do you do after 35 years of providing comfort, care and entertainment for 35 years as a Radio Lollipop station????????

Well Radio Lollipop Newcastle decided on a 3 course meal consisting of –  first course FUN, FUN, FUN, followed by main course FUN, FUN, FUN, and for dessert FUN, FUN, FUN.

We are proud to be part of such a great charity who from humble beginnings in the UK have and are still growing throughout the world with a common aim – and, of course a little bit of silliness for all.  It does challenge our volunteers at times and it does take a great deal of thinking about as some of our photos show.

Our 35th Anniversary in Newcastle gives us all cause to reflect on EVERY single Radio Lollipop station, EVERY Radio Lollipop volunteer both past and present and here’s to the next 35 years of ………..FUN.

HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY NEWCASTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.

Radio Lollipop Newcastle celebrates 35th Birthday today

A long time ago in a hospital far, far away – well in Newcastle’s Fleming Memorial Hospital on 14th July 1982 – there began the first broadcast of the second Radio Lollipop in the UK. Over the last 35 years every one of our volunteers has been committed to providing care, comfort and play to the sick children of the North East of England and sometimes from further afield.

Over the years we have moved “home” from the Fleming to the RVI and then into the fantastic facility in the Great North Children’s Hospital and adapted to the huge changes that have taken place during that time. However, our original values have stood us in good stead and when a volunteer can bring a smile to a poorly child and their families it is worth its weight in gold.

Here’s to the next 35 years.

Great fundraising news from Newcastle

Radio Lollipop Newcastle had some great fundraising news today – we have been awarded £500 from the Green Token Scheme in ASDA Gosforth.  Newcastle collected the most tokens after strong opposition from two other local charities and we are delighted at the ongoing support given to us by the staff and customers.
