Racq careflight rescue fly into the gold coast
14 October 2009

The Children’s Ward at the Gold Coast Hospital was lucky enough to be visited by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew on Tuesday the 13th of October.

Pilot David Bashir and Air Crewmen Matt O’Rourke, Luke Pagano and Ryan Purchase dropped in during the evening to spend some time with the children and help to brighten up their stay. The crew came in to the ward and chatted to the children, played some games and gave an insight into the life saving job they do within our community.

The guys got stuck into the paint and completed the infamous Radio Lollipop handprints for the hall of fame, and ran a colouring in competition with the children. The RACQ CareFlight crew gave out prizes and the popular CareFlight teddy bears to the children, putting some huge smiles on the little faces!

Every year RACQ CareFlight Rescue’s iconic blue and yellow choppers help more than 700 sick or injured patients. Each RACQ CareFlight mission costs in excess of $10,000. Incredibly, this service is provided at no direct cost to patients. After nearly three decades, RACQ CareFlight’s biggest supporters are still the communities of southern QLD which contribute almost half of the service’s funding.

Thanks for stopping by guys, you made our night!
