“success week” event a real hit for newcastle
14 July 2008

Today saw Newcastle’s roadshow team out and about in local secondary school, Longbenton Community College. The team were boosting the schools efforts to celebrate the success of their students over the course of the school year by giving them a new skill to be successful in.

The students assisted in the preparation of a roadshow event themed around the Jungle which will take place tomorrow at the school fayre. There are more than 50 other stalls on offer at the fayre and proceeds are to be split between Radio Lollipop and Water Aid as a thanks for the volunteers giving up their time.

Success culture co-ordinator at the school, Judith Spence said

“it was great to see the kids getting involved in such a real-life event. It will be rewarding for them to see the roadhsow up and running tomorrow and to know they have contributed to preparing it. It has also helped them to learn more about Radio Lollipop and the essential work it does in hospital with children their own age. We have several students in school who have received treatment for illnesses at the RVI and they have come into contact with Radio Lollipop before but it’s nice that the healthier ones get to join in too”!
