Radio Lollipop Brisbane had a beary special visit from Ollie the Officework’s Bear along with his friends Batman, Poison Ivy and Smurfette when they visited The Super Saturday Team on Lollipop Day. The Radio Lollipop Studio was alive with activity as the children began the great crafts Officeworks and our Radio Lollipop Super Saturday Team had organised.

Ollie the Officework’s Bear and Smurfette had a turn up on the wards with Ollie giving hi-5s and big bear hugs to many little people. An 8 year old boy on the wards enjoyed a big bear hug from Ollie but once he heard his favourite superhero, Batman, was down in the Radio Lollipop Studio, he couldn’t get down there fast enough and had eyes full of excitement.

Later in the Radio Lollipop Studio, there were superhero quizzes on the radio and a smurf colouring competition with the winners receiving smurf merchandise supplied by our friends at Officeworks. The overall winner, a young girl, received a big blue Smurfette toy which she loved saying she would, ‘cuddle it every day of her life!’

Every fortnight Officework’s staff volunteer their time to visit the Super Saturday Team to provide craft activities and resources to support Radio Lollipop Volunteers at The Mater Hospital.  It all began with an Officeworks manager, who had been in hospital a lot as a child, wanting to give something back and he encouraged his employees to do the same.

We would like to thank you for the great craft supplies and thank you especially for giving up your time to volunteer with us at Radio Lollipop. Special thanks go to Britta, Mikalya, Seane, Jared, Rod, Kelli, Jack, Hannah and especially Ollie the Officework’s Bear, Batman, Poison Ivy and Smurfette.  We hope you’ll visit Radio Lollipop again soon.
