Ramsden Lawyers help Radio Lollipop Gold Coast

Gold Coast law firm Ramsden Lawyers are switching their legal pads for microphones as they prepare to hold a charity race day for Radio Lollipop on Saturday, Aug 23.

Radio Lollipop Gold Coast volunteer Martine Simonds says for the 2,000 children the local Radio Lollipop team reaches every year, the service is invaluable.

“For many children, it is the brightest part of their day; a welcome distraction from what can be a frightening or unpleasant time,” Ms Simonds says.

“The team of volunteers that we have are just extraordinary – we have the radio show of course, and the volunteers also go in and play with the kids, read to them, and do craft with them. Last year we recorded 2,337 volunteer hours spend with the children on the wards.

“It makes such a difference to the children’s lives and the lives of their families,” she said.

Ramsden Lawyers Senior Associate Ben Twomey says the firm recognises the extraordinary work the volunteers at Radio Lollipop do, and they are looking forward to raising much needed funds through their race day.

“The team at Radio Lollipop work tirelessly to make a difference in sick children’s lives,” Mr Twomey says.

“The charity is completely self-funded and the team work around their own schedules of work, school, university and their own families to volunteer.

“We have approximately 180 people attending the race day and hope to raise between $20,000 and $30,000 for this inspirational charity.

“As a Gold Coast firm we wanted to show our support to a local charity and we hope that by raising money for Radio Lollipop they can focus on doing what they do best – lifting the children’s spirits,” he said.
